Corporations and Government Agencies
Corporations and government agencies can play a valuable role in
preparing Maryland's future workforce by offering exposure to possible
career paths and positive life skills. When businesses and their
employees connect personally with the community through mentoring,
the benefits also impact the economic and social viability of the
state. Here are just a few ways corporations can get involved:
-
School Based Mentoring: Employees visit mentees at
school for a minimum of four hours per month.
-
Workplace Mentoring: Students visit the workplace for
a minimum of four hours per month. Learn professional
skills and work one-on-one with an employee mentor.
The concept of mentoring is a simple one, but mobilizing communities
and recruiting mentors takes a continuous flow of creative energy
and commitment. Contact MMP for information, referrals and assistance
in starting a program, getting connected to an existing one, hosting
special youth activities, technical support on sustaining relationships
or just learning more about how mentoring works. For more information
on getting your company involved in mentoring contact Mike Stone,
Manager of Corporate Partnerships & Training mikes@marylandmentors.org.
For more information on getting your government agency involved
in mentoring contact Clara Carter, Director of Training, ccarter@marylandmentors.org.
